Confirmed to target the featured Group 1 Melbourne Cup this time in, Japanese staying sensations Admire Rakti and Bande have each been confirmed in the 2014 Caulfield Cup Final Field.

Securing a commendable total of six wins and a further 11 minor places from his 26 competitive starts so far, Admire Rakti stamped his claim as a serious Cups contender in his first-up appearance this year; finishing a close second to leading stayer Gold Ship in the Group 2 Hanshin Daishoten Stakes (3016m) on March 23rd.

While unable to figure when 13th in the Group 1 Tenno Sho (3218m) last time out, the Heart’s Cry entire has reportedly taken particularly well to his time in quarantine and return to work and is a leading chance of success in the 2014 Caulfield Cup with in-form jockey Zac Purton on board.

Running third in the Hanshin Daishoten earlier this year, several parallels have been drawn between the lead-up form of Bande and 2006 Melbourne Cup champion Delta Blues, and is offered an excellent chance of justifying the claims with just 56.5kgs in the 2014 Caulfield Cup.

Claiming a total of five wins and three minor places from his 12 competitive appearances on course to date, the Authorized entire has not finished outside the places in more than a year; bookending his run for third in the Hanshin Daishoten with a win in the 4.y.o Stakes (2400m) and third in a four-year-old Handicap event over 2400m early this year and winning the Listed Sapporo Nikkei (2600m) upon returning to racing on August 10th.

Confirmed to be partnered by leading French jockey Christophe Lemaire in the 2014 Caulfield Cup, a favourable barrier draw may mean the difference in success for Bande on Saturday.

Contesting an ideal path and securing exceptional form leading into the 2014 Caulfield Cup, Lucia Valentina will be charged with carrying just 53kgs this weekend and is a great chance of success.

Securing five wins and three minors from 12 starts so far, Lucia Valentina began her racing career under the guidance of kiwi trainer Stephen Marsh before transferring to the care of Kris Lees in Newcastle at the beginning of the year.

Finishing third in the Group 2 Surround Stakes (1400m) in her Australian debut in March, the Savabeel mare appeared to be outclassed when only managing 12th in the Group 1 Coolmore Classic (1500m) on March 22nd, but responded in the best way possible in winning the Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m) and finishing third in the Group 1 Australian Oaks (2400m).

Winning the Group 2 Tramway Stakes (1400m) first-up this time before finishing sixth in the Group 1 George Main Stakes (1600m) on September 20th, Lucia Valentina is primed for success in the Caulfield Cup after comfortably winning the Group 1 Turnbull Stakes (2000m) most recently on October 4th.

Macedon Lodge is offered two excellent chances of success in the 2014 Caulfield Cup, with trainer Robert Hickmott accepting positions in the final field for classy stable mates Green Moon and Sea Moon.

The winner of the 2012 Melbourne Cup, Green Moon returned to racing in slick form over the 2014 Autumn Carnival; finishing fourth in the Group 2 Peter Young Stakes (1800m) first-up before running a close second to Fiorente in the Group 1 Australian Cup (2000m) most notably on March 8th.

Touted as one to watch in the lead-up to the 2013 Melbourne Cup, Sea Moon finished second in the Listed Bart Cummings (2520m) and won the Group 2 Herbert Power Stakes (2400m), but was unable to match the late pace in the Race That Stops a Nation, finishing 13th.

Having run fifth in this year’s edition of The Bart Cummings first-up on October 4th, Hickmott has been pleased with the progressing form of the Beat Hollow entire and is confident Steven Arnold will get the best from his runner in the Caulfield Cup.

Early favourite for the 2014 Melbourne Cup, The Offer is yet to hit peak condition over three starts this time in, but appears ready to perform in the 2014 Caulfield Cup.

A standout over autumn, The Offer overcame a forgettable run for sixth in the Australian Turf Club 3.y.o+ (1400m) first-up with a strong run for third in the Listed Randwick City Stakes (2000m) and back-to-back victories in the Group 3 NE Manion Cup (2400m), Group 2 Chairman’s Handicap (2600m) and Group 1 Sydney Cup (3200m).

Classy stayers Brambles, Araldo, Unchain My Heart and Renew have been confirmed as the 2014 Caulfield Cup emergency runners.
